The history of Mostardi Platt begins over 40 years ago, with the passing of the Clean Air Act in 1970. The Clean Air Act forced companies to focus on their air emissions more than ever before. On May 11th, 1976, Mostardi Platt Associate’s Inc. was founded by college roommates Tom Mostardi and Robert “Bob” Platt and began operations in a small garage in Chicago, Illinois.
As the world became more environmentally conscious, these recent graduates of Marquette University of Engineering recognized the need for an environmental consulting service. The consulting service would assist businesses in their assessment and environmental risks and compliance needs with the ever-changing environmental regulations.
At first it was tough. Clients did not want to hire fresh out of college employees to do their work for them. Despite facing these challenges, Mostardi Platt Associates continued working with the clients that they had acquired through previous work.
With time, business accumulated, and as a result, the company grew into a full-service environmental consulting firm. As the company continued to grow, their services became offered to clients throughout the United States as well as internationally.
In 2001, Mostardi Platt Associate’s had their Air Emissions Testing and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) divisions bought by the General Electric Company. Meanwhile, the remaining consulting divisions began doing business as Mostardi Platt Environmental and continued to provide environmental assessment, permitting and compliance management services.
In 2004, Platt Environmental Services Inc. was formed to once again focus on air emissions testing and CEMS.
Following this, in 2005, Platt Environmental Services Inc. was acquired by Mostardi Platt Enivronmental’s holding company. Platt Environmental Services merged into Mostardi Platt Environmental in 2011, and the company began doing business simply as Mostardi Platt. Finally, Mostardi Platt was once again a full-service environmental consulting company.
In order to keep up with the growing size of the company, in 2011, Mostardi Platt headquarters moved into a 53,000 square foot state-of the art facility in Elmhurst, IL.
Mostardi Platt still operates from the Elmhurst office, located at 888 Industrial Drive. The office includes space for the company’s professional staff of engineers, scientists, and technicians. In addition, the facility includes a warehouse for its fleet of box trucks, which are specially equipped to facilitate air emissions testing services throughout the United States and internationally.
In addition to their headquarters, Mostardi Platt maintains satellite offices located in Henderson, NV; Crown Point, IN; Mendota Heights, MN; and Denver, CO.
Mostardi Platt is proud to use its expertise to assist a wide variety of businesses and industries in maintaining compliance with environmental regulations.
